I think South Carolina should have had one play from the Auburn 30.
We don’t blame the refs, but if we did Is it just me, or does Auburn get every questionable call? While Stephen Garcia’s decision to throw the ball into the middle of the field with 8 seconds left and no timeouts was foolish, I do not understand why the clock does not stop to move the chains. The best guess is the delay between the end of the play and the whistle being blown was two seconds, but it still looks bad when Auburn is on the right end of yet another quirky call.
Cross of New Orleans We all thought Stephen Garcia could not win a national title, and now we know he will not.
South Florida was a long shot for New Orleans, but a loss at Pittsburgh ended any talk.
Nebraska was rudely welcomed to the Big 10 and exposed.
Florida’s season is about to crumble with the injury to John Brantley. So too did any hopes of visiting New Orleans after the beatdown from Alabama in the Swamp.
Virginia Tech scored three points at home against Clemson. The Hokies will not be on Bourbon Street this January.
Baylor’s wildest Baptist dreams of partying in New Orleans are over.
Penn Wagers’ Dogs of the Week Aggie fans love defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter, but for the second week in a row his defense got obliterated in the second half. With zero threat of an Arkansas running game, Texas A&M could not prevent Arkansas from scoring 25 second half points while QB Tyler Wilson set the Arkansas passing record and Jarius Wright set the Arkansas receiving record.
Stephen Garcia is just abysmal. I never thought he was as bad as other people, but his 2011 play is atrocious. Auburn did a nice job forcing him into uncomfortable situations and taking advantage.
Iowa State turned the ball over three times in the first quarter and laid an egg on national TV with a sold out stadium as Texas spanked the Cyclones 37-14.
Navy quarterback Kriss Proctor got a 15-yard taunting penalty in overtime that forced a long extra point attempt. Navy had the kick blocked by Alex Means. Air Force then scored a touchdown and made a normal length extra point for the 35-34 win on the road.
Nickoe Whitley marks his territory.
Did you see that?
This is a good one. Mississippi State safety Nickoe Whitley did not start, but did make a contribution on Saturday at Georgia. As you can see in the picture on the right, Whitley ‘watered’ the hedges in Sanford Stadium on Saturday before his Bulldogs lost 24-10 to Georgia.
Andrew Luck made a sweet one-handed grab along the sideline in Stanford’s win over UCLA.

Choked on Applesauce presented by Texas A&M At Holy Turf we love sponsors (See Chickens, Slim). Our Choked on Applesuace section is now presented by Texas A&M after blowing an 18 point halftime lead to Arkansas at a neutral site a week after blowing a 17 point lead to Oklahoma State at home. The Aggies are a perfect fit. A&M will not be paying Holy Turf with a check, but instead in free crew cuts for life and plaid shirts. Thanks fellas!
A&M managed three points in the second half and only kicked that field goal after A&M could not pick up a third and six from the Arkansas 10 while Arkansas only played with 10 players on the field for the crucial play. The Aggie defense was busy giving up 25 points to an Arkansas team that could not protect Tyler Wilson from the East Dillon Lions. In the second half Arkansas’ drives were as follows: FG, TD, Punt, Punt, TD, TD, End of Game.
Game Balls-QB/WR duo Robert Griffin (346 yards and 5 TDs) and Kendall Wright (201 yards and 3 TDs) connected for one highlight reel catch after another, but came up one point short in The Little Apple, 36-35.
Matt Barkley (468 yards and 4 TDs) and Robert Woods (255 yards and 2 TDs) continue to put up mind numbing numbers out west.
Tyler Wilson (510 yards and 3 TDs) and Jarius Wright (281 yards and 2 TDs) both set school records in the Razorback win.
Illinois QB Nathan Scheelhaase (391 yards and 4 total TDs) and WR A.J. Jenkins (268 yards and 3 TDs) were fantastic as well.
LSU cornerback Tyrann Matheiu was at it again. This time with a forced fumble, recovery, and touchdown.
Alabama LB Courtney Upshaw made a game-chaining interception for a touchdown, the sack that knocked quarterback John Brantley out of the game on a legal play and three tackles for loss.
