Taking a casual amble through the student section at Ole Miss is a must for several reasons. Yes, the women at Ole Miss at strikingly beautiful. It has long been said that Ole Miss is the only school in the country that redshirts Miss America’s, which is quite the clever cliche.

However, you also must notice that the Ole Miss coeds rarely sport red and blue attire at games as evidenced by the picture on the right. Most schools throughout the SEC dictate that everyone wears the school colors in Saturdays on the fall. Not in Oxford. You are just as likely to see a yellow summer dress in September as you are a blue or red outfit. While I normally scoff at such blatant disregard for school spirit, I have also learned to accept it as a way of life in Oxford.

The men also wear their finest suits and Croakies to Ole Miss football games. This is not too uncommon in the SEC, but typically only pledges wear suits. Ole Miss gentlemen continue the tradition throughout their time spent inside Vaught Hemingway Stadium.

I have never worn a suit to a football game in my life and likely never will because God invented khaki shorts, golf shirts, and Nike Shox for a reason. The full giddy-up looks miserably uncomfortable and out of place to me. However, I do appreciate the fact that Ole Miss men take this tradition seriously even if I cannot agree with it. You should also be on the lookout for a sear sucker suit or two while you are at the game as well as bow ties a plenty. Lastly, the khaki pants with Ole Miss rebel logos on them are becoming increasingly popular. While most schools consider wearing these pants as dressing up, this is a Friday casual look in Oxford.

I hope this brief rundown of the Ole Miss student section has entertained you. I know you will enjoy a slow stroll through the heart of it all on your next visit to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Hotty Toddy!
